Why Speechiox asks for less
Good discussions do not require unnecessary personal information. Speechiox only asks for information that serves a clear and meaningful purpose.
Every piece of information should have a purpose.
Respect also means choosing not to collect information when it adds no value to the purpose of the platform. Speechiox does not ask for personal details simply because other platforms do.
Why we do not require more personal information
Each decision is based on practical use, responsibility and the protection of both community members and the people discussed on the platform.
We do not ask for contact details we do not use.
Speechiox does not require an email address for a community account because Speechiox does not contact community members by email.
- Many people have several email addresses, so an email address does not reliably prevent multiple registrations.
- Information that is not used should not create unnecessary storage, administration and security responsibilities.
- A community account should remain simple and focused on participation.
We do not ask for a number we will never call.
Speechiox does not require a phone number because community members are not contacted by telephone.
- Phone numbers can change and may quickly become outdated.
- They provide no meaningful benefit to participation in the Speechiox community.
- Collecting unused contact information would add responsibility without improving the discussion.
Ideas should not depend on unverified identities.
Speechiox does not require real names or postal addresses because the community does not use them for communication or participation.
- Speechiox does not contact community members by postal mail.
- Real names can easily be invented and cannot be reliably verified without additional identity checks.
- An unverified name could falsely suggest that another person, public figure or organisation published a thesis on Speechiox.
Community usernames must not impersonate another person or organisation. The applicable standards are explained in our Community Guidelines and Moderation Rules.
Less unnecessary information means less unnecessary risk.
Speechiox is designed to protect community members from being asked for information that the platform does not need. The same approach also helps protect public figures, organisations and other people from misleading identity claims.
This does not remove responsibility from the community. Contributions remain subject to the Community Guidelines, Moderation Rules and the platform’s reporting and moderation processes.
